Loads of time has passed since our last visit to Cedar City to cruise Main Street with a fountain drink from Maverick and stay at our little cabin. This three day weekend gave us ample time to relax, explore, and visit family. We checked out Frontier Homestead State Park Museum on Main Street. Turns out Jason's Grandpa Harold Robb (deceased), who worked at the iron mines, had pictures of himself and other workers in front of this giant Bucyrus electric shovel from when it was functioning out at the mines. Jason took the pictures his grandpa had from the mine for the museum to scan and use in their display honoring the legacy of the people who made the mine successful. We also went to the Iron County fair. It was a replica of every other year we have gone- local talent singing, Texas Tornado lemonade, quilt contest, and name that giant vegetable. The something new was a tent that housed reptilia, we wandered in and Jace ended up holding a very large and creepy snake! Just as we were about to venture over to the rickety, rust laden rides operated by the toothless, disheveled haired carnies, it began to rain. I'm certain it was a sign, saving us from certain death or at the very least from upchucking in an overfilled trash can. There was also a visit to Grandpa (Larry) Robb's to check out what was left in the garden and to play on the front lawn with Minty, Sam and Abby who were also up for the weekend. Lauren and I went to the movies and saw This Is Us- the One Direction movie in 3D, we did a bit of shopping, and stopped at the park for some much needed swinging. Lastly, it wouldn't be a trip to Cedar without a drive over the mountain. It was chilly, the rain drizzled, and the clouds were low- a welcome change from the Vegas heat. We stopped at Cedar Breaks overlook to awe at the canyon, but it was filled with white fluffiness. The Mini insisted on documenting it's travels as well with a few pictures on the mountain. It was a nice, low key trip and I'm glad we were all able to enjoy it!!
