School & Play

Lauren is on the Student Council and the sophomores had to decorate this float and their hallway for Homecoming. The theme was 007 and the floats were the Las vegas Strip. They all worked hard and everything turned out fantastic!

Wicked came through town so we figured we should take the kids to see it. Jason and I had the opportunity to check it out a few years ago in San Francisco at the Orpheum theatre and loved it. I have to admit the show in Vegas wasn't as good as the one in San Francisco but it was still great and the kids enjoyed it. I especially loved as the story unfolded and certain parts were brought to light, how the kids would look over at us like "oh so that's how it happened" or "that makes sense" type facial expressions on how the story relates to Wizard of Oz. We planned on having a nice dinner before the show but ran late getting ready and ended up enjoying slices of pizza from the window at Pizza Rock.It was a fun family night, the kids got some culture, and I finally got to see inside this beautiful building.

Parental Units

In 1953 two special people were born. One on October 21st and the other on November 8th. One on the east coast and the other in the west. Yet somehow they met, married, and had a family consisting of four lovely girls. This year they became sixty one and so we celebrated. My mom is the older woman in this relationship and I'm sure on certain monumental birthdays that two weeks can be brutal!! For her birthday, us four girls took her downtown to LeThai for lunch. Afterwards, we hit up O Face Donuts to satisfy the ol' sweet tooth that we all inherited. Her gift? Well she wanted a bike. Ask and ye shall receive...... now let's see if she actually rides it!!HaHa!

My dad, well he loves Jerry's Nugget so we ('we' included the grandkids-he got the raw end of the deal) all met up for a fantastic dinner. Well dinner was actually just ok, my favorite part- DESSERT! They have some seriously good stuff there(that sweet gene again). We had a great time and I'm pretty sure he had a great birthday!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Halloween and Disneyland

October 31- November 4, 2014

Halloween is still Halloween even if you are out of town. So after doing a little research we decided that we would join Huntington Beach for their trick or treating festivities. They blocked off the few streets of surf shops, stores, and restaurants right across from the crashing waves of the ocean and Huntington Pier. All the businesses were handing out candy, as well as the fire department, lifeguards, Coast Guard etc. They had all kinds of games and a costume contest going on as well. The cousins that dressed up loaded up on all kinds of sugary goodness. With the goody bags full we all walked over to the pier and took a little stroll before heading back to the hotel to get some rest for the big day we had ahead of us......

DISNEYLAND
It has been YEARS since the Nelson side of the family have all gone to Disneyland together. With my parents, my family, and my sisters and their families there are now twenty three of us. That is a tricky number of people to try to keep together in such a big park, especially with ages ranging from 5 clear up to 60, but we worked it out spending time all together, few of us together, cousins going off together etc.. Our friends the Pisciotta's were also there at the same time and we spent some time riding a few rides and the train caboose "Lilly Belle" with them.

After three days of Disney fun it was time to head back to Vegas. We stopped for lunch at The Hat in Glendora then checked out this amazing tree that was just down the street. The kids ran around for a bit then we made our last stop at Donut Man for some tasty treats.

Of course Disneyland never disappoints (we are smart enough to steer clear of summer and holidays) and we had a magical vacation once again. Thanks Walt!
