The Birthday Boy!!

May 19 & 20, 2012

Party. No party. Party. No party
Jace's decision flew back and forth like a tennis ball on the court. In the end, the final verdict was no party. The plea deal: $50, he takes a friend to see Avengers and dinner at Aliante buffet. Sold!
So Saturday, the day before his birthday, we took him and his friend Brett for the birthday fun!

May 20th- Happy 11th Birthday Jace!!

Jace chose french toast and sausage for breakfast before church.

After church Grandma & Grandpa Nelson stopped by to give him his birthday present....
A Lego set and cash... Lucky!!

Then he got to open his gifts from mom & dad...
another Lego set and a new Boy Scout uniform since he's leaving Cub Scouts and moving into Boy Scouts.

Disneyland With a Hint of Knott's

 May 3-6, 2012

Disneyland....

Lauren awoke long before the sun to load the bus with her fellow cheerleaders to win big at the Sharp International cheer competition that was taking place at Knott's Berry Farm. We decided that we would  take advantage of this opportunity to have fun and watch Lauren compete so after dropping her at the bus, we snoozed for a few more hours than began our drive. My parents and sister Tiffany & kids also came along. Lauren's schedule was:
Thursday: Disneyland
Friday: Knott's Berry Farm
Saturday: Competition
Our schedule was:
Thursday & Friday: Disneyland
Saturday: Knott's & watch competition
So, we didn't see much of Lauren, but she was having a great time with her friends. Instead of riding the bus home, we took her with us after the competition and she went with us to Disneyland on Sunday.

Jace had a photo op with Pluto....

and of course the ever famous backside of water....

It's been quite a few years since we have stepped foot in this park. They keep it clean, there are some scary roller coasters, and the price is right. The problem? Lack of efficiency. You wait in line forever because there is no rhythm to their system. You have to line yourself up, hope you ride with your party, and most rides only had one or two cars going. So that frustrated me. All in all it wasn't that bad. We rode rides and watched Lauren perform in the theatre. Her team won a bunch of stuff- they were great!!

Teenager Amongst Us.....

April 27, 2012

On the eve of her 13th year, Lauren asked to have a friend over for a trip to the spinny park and dinner. She chose her friend Taylor, who would not be able to attend her party the next day. They romped around the park for a bit, then we all enjoyed pizza and pasta at Streets of New York, by the park. After dinner there were a few cracks and crevices to fill, so what better choice than Baskin-Robbins for ice cream!

Lauren is 13!!

Lauren decided to have a "Where's Malldo?" birthday party, which is quite appropriate considering the mall is one of her favorite places to be.We went to the Galleria mall where the girls then split up into two groups to search for "Malldo". There were four disguised  people they had to search for and take a picture with.

The whole group after everyone had been compromised!!
Look who they found!!

After discovering all four of the disguised guests, the girls were ready for some dinner at Red Robin.

and yummy cupcakes...

The birthday girl got a little carried away with the frosting....

After dinner, there was time for a bit of shopping.....
and some flirting with boys.....

It is hard to believe that Lauren is 13, a teenager!

All in a Week's Work

Another week of projects, activities, and competitions....

April 16-21, 2012
First, Jace designed and built this robot for a school project. The legs come apart and have dowels sticking out that fit into the shoulders of the robot his classmate designed. The legs and hands have suction cups. His team at school really thought their design through and even made a brochure to go with it.

Next, there was Cub Scout day camp. This year's theme was Australian- "Cubbing Down Under." Jace had a lot of fun shooting BB guns, arrows, and climbing the rock wall on Thursday and Friday.
Then on Saturday the Webelos went on a hike near Lake Mead. Jason went along on this hike with Jace and even though it was a long, hot day they had a good time.

While Jason and Jace were on the hike, Lauren and I were at cheer competition. It was held at the Cashman center downtown. Lauren's team won a bunch of awards for their performances. Lauren had five costume changes to make for the different numbers she performed in.
