Cabin.... the final days

Pre-final trip....

We took a quick weekend trip up to Cedar City because there was an off road race going on up there. Our nephew Taylor and his family joined us since Jason and Taylor both wanted to check out the race since they had recently purchased a little Class 11 VW Bug. It was an easy, relaxed weekend. On our way out of town we stopped to have lunch at Panda Express (we let Jace pick) and ran in to these awesomely expensive cars that were traveling for the Gold Rush Rally. Jace was in car heaven!!

On July 4th we celebrated Independence Day with our friends at the Pisciotta's house. BBQ, swimming, fireworks- the usual fun for the 4th. Lauren went up to the cabin early with my parents and enjoyed the 4th of July parade up in Cedar then fireworks that night. The next day we drove up to the cabin to spend the rest of the holiday weekend up there. The whole family was there as this was to be our last hooray at the cabin before it was officially sold and escrow closed. 

We had to clean out and load up all of our items we wanted to take. We sold the cabin furnished so we didn't have to haul everything out, most of it was hand-me-downs anyway! Jason sold the dune buggy to a friend from work who came and picked it up. We all drove up to Cedar Breaks and enjoyed the view and a nice sprinkle of rain. The cousins played and dug up worms, we rode four wheelers, and enjoyed the beautiful view one last time. We are certainly going to miss having our little cabin in Cedar Highlands but we have made a lot of memories there over the years. Our first official stay at the cabin, after it was mostly complete, was Memorial Day 2001. Jace was all of 5 days old but we were so excited to finally have the cabin built that we made the two hour trip with a newborn and two year old. Our kids have grown up with the cabin, it has always just been there for them and I don't think they realize it now, but in a few years when they are grown and have a family they will look back and those times spent splashing in the park's river, finding animal skulls, snow sledding down the front hill, looking over Cedar Breaks, fishing at Woods Ranch, being in the 4th of July parade, building forts in the trees, riding four wheelers, playing with the dog they named Ray, shooting squirrels with the bb gun, swinging on the front porch and so much more. It makes my heart sad to say good bye but it was time. Thanks for the memories cabin, we will miss you!!!
