Summer Vacation- Part III

August 11-14, 2014

SAN FRANCISCO!!
We made it!!

After returning our rental SUV (we all know you do not want a car in San Francisco) and getting settled into our rented condo, we took a stroll, uphill and downhill, and came across the Cable Car Museum. It was quite interesting, informative, and you could watch the actual cables in action. We spent the rest of the evening wandering around, having dinner at a little Mexican restaurant near the pier, and of course a visit to Ghirardelli's for some ice cream. Rather than go on for days, here are some of the highlights of our 3.75 days in San Francisco......

  • walked down Lombard Street- the crookedest street in the world
  • took a double decker bus tour of the city- stopped at Union Square for lunch, Haight and Ashbury for some culture, adored the architectural beauty of the Painted Ladies, shopped at Brandy Melville, drove across the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Rode on the famous Cable Cars
  • Visited the Aquarium by the Bay
  • We were amazed by Ripley's Believe It or Not
  • Ate at a yummy Italian place in Little Italy
  • Toured the infamous Alcatraz
  • Perused through Chinatown and found a fortune cookie factory in a back alley
  • Took a boat tour under the Golden Gate and Bay bridges
  • Had some San Francisco sourdough at Boudin Bakery
  • Walked through Pier 39
  • Toured the WWII Liberty ship, Jeremiah O' Brien
  • Played vintage video games
  • Created lots of memories with our family
Then the time had come to return home. We drove up to San Francisco but were flying back home, so we headed to the airport and soon we were back in Vegas. Overall, our summer vacation was a success! Did we all have our moments of moodiness? Of course, but we made it through and will always remember this fun family vacation!
