Scout Camp 2014

June 14- 21, 2014

Jason and Jace got to experience a full week at Forest Lawn Scout Reservation a.k.a. Camp Arrowhead in Big Bear, California. Obviously I wasn't there but here are a few of the things I heard about:

• Jace did Polar Bear- where you get up early and freeze in the pool and flail around in a mini pool of ice water
• Jace loved getting the canoeing merit badge, they even had to tip the canoe on purpose
• Rock climbing/rappelling was top of the list
• Camp started early Monday morning, so they drove up the Saturday prior to and went to church at the ward up there on Sunday. And yes, that is Jace with his church clothes and hiking boots!
• Jason loves this camp because the tents are provided and there's a mess hall that serves all the meals= no cooking!
• On the last night there a big brown bear was snooping through their campsite. I would have fled immediately, but they shooed it away and carried on.

I'm glad that Jace got to attend a great camp with a great troop and that Jason was able to go along with him (even if it was like his 17th year as a leader at scout camp). I'm positive they all made memories and learned skills that will last a lifetime.

Happy 13th Birthday Jace!!!!

On May 20th Jace became an official teenager! He had a little get together with some of his (taller) friends!! They had cake and pizza, followed by Godzilla at the movie theatre. Jace got some clothes, exercise equipment, and cold hard cash. I'd say he had a pretty awesome birthday!!

On June 23rd Jace finally got his braces on.... time to straighten out those crooked teeth!!

We had Wet and Wild passes again this summer. So much fun and even better when you bring a friend!

Happy 18th Anniversary to us!! 

We were married in the Las Vegas LDS Temple on May 4, 1996. That was eighteen years, two kids, three houses, numerous trips to Disneyland, zero dogs but one desert tortoise, and several extra pounds of fat ago AND we still like each other, so I guess we are doing something right!!

Mother's Day!! 

The best thing about it is that Lauren and Jace are absolute angels on that day. They smile for pictures, make me lunch, and keep the peace. It is wonderful!! And I'm not being sarcastic, it is for real!! We had family dinner at the Judd's house, and the guys planned, cooked, and cleaned up dinner. The kids were outside and saw these adorable baby birds emerging from a bush in the backyard. We told the kids not to touch them, but as you can see by the picture, Jace is practically strangling one. Hopefully they survived but I told my sister not to tell me if they died because they were so cute and fuzzy it would break my mama heart. To top it all off we got a few "mom" pictures; some intentionally hideous- gotta make fun of yourself once in awhile!!

*oh and I finally got a new computer- HOORAY!
